- Overview The Product Manager manages product life-cycle of vitreous china sinks, toilets and related accessories with special emphasis on supporting new product development, market analysis and research, competitive analysis, project coordination, forecasting and sales support.
The Product Manager is responsible for acting as the “Product Champion” for new product development including presenting the business case analysis culminating in a presentation and go/no go recommendation to senior management.
The Product Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of product related issues for the vitreous china fixture product lines
Initial responsibilities include management of new product development activities and market analysis of new categories.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Actively contribute to strategic planning to align product strategy with overall company direction and objectives
Product Enhancement and New Product Development
Conduct competitive product assessments and develop new product or product positioning strategies
Develop, maintain, and present short, medium, and long term product roadmaps that align with overall brand strategy and business objectives
Support new product introduction efforts for fixtures. This will involve execution of the New Product Development (NPD) process in conjunction with our engineering and manufacturing teams in Taiwan and China, as well as North America based marketing and sales organizations.
Support product modifications or enhancements based on performance analysis and field input
Work effectively with management in promoting the short- and long- range plans for product marketing initiatives
Support marketing with input and technical support for marketing materials, collateral, training, etc.
Develop and deliver product training sessions for internal personnel and customers.
Regularly communicate product plans and updates to field via live meetings, conference calls, presentations, etc.
Proactively manage product life cycles through analysis and field input
Create and execute procedures for product discontinuations and transitions
Conduct primary and secondary research on competitive pricing and positioning
Recommend and implement pricing in line with brand strategy and business objectives
Financial Analysis and Metrics
Track and analyze product performance utilizing financial data, sales trends, and industry information
Develop tracking and reporting formats for measuring product success
Work closely with Sales and Supply Chain teams to establish initial product forecasts and contribute to existing product forecasts
Perform financial justification of new products, line extensions, and enhancements
Generate technical product bulletins as needed with input from QC, operations, customer service, etc.
Execute on and offer revisions to NPD process and procedures.
Flexibility to perform other duties as required
Bachelor degree from a four year college or university or equivalent education and experience.
Minimum of 4-6 years experience in the job offered
Previous experience in kitchen and bath fixtures strongly preferred
Experience with international manufacturing is preferred
Technical competence to review and understand product specification drawings
Previous experience in engineering or quantitative disciplines is preferred
Proficiency in MS Office suite
Detail-oriented; precision and consistency is key to success in this role
Ability to work effectively as a team as well as manage time and projects independently
